ABOUT WEY WEST DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Wey West Dispute Resolution was founded to foster the independent resolution of commercial disputes, initially focusing on disputes between health care providers and health care payers but now expanded to all commercial disputes. Wey West Dispute Resolution’s principle, Emily Wey, utilizes her expertise as a practicing transactional and regulatory attorney for 30 years – and as a neutral for 14 years – to bring business acumen and practical problem-solving experience to the dispute resolution process.

Emily’s experience includes:

  • Serving as an arbitrator in over 75 commercial cases, including 20+ cases as chair of 3-person panel
  • Hearing cases through arbitration and award, including issuance of multiple written opinions
  • Handling typical docket of 15-20 multi-million dollar complex commercial disputes 
  • Serving as a mass consumer arbitration neutral in 2 industry-changing cases
  • Mediating class action litigation and large-scale contract negotiations
  • Serving as an arbitrator in emergency and injunctive cases pursuant to AAA and AHLA rules

ABOUT EMILY WEY

Emily Wey is a commercial arbitrator specializing in health care payment disputes and trained extensively in both arbitration/mediation fundamentals and complex case management. Emily is a panel member of both the American Arbitration Association (payor-provider and commercial dispute panels) and American Health Law Association dispute resolution services and is a past chair of the governing Council of the American Health Law Dispute Resolution Service.  When serving as a neutral in health care disputes, Emily draws on 30 years of experience in private firm health care practice groups and as in-house counsel for large providers and large payers to resolve disputes efficiently.

  Emily’s training includes:

  • 60-hour American Arbitration Association arbitrator training
  • Multi-day American Arbitration Association training on complex case management
  • 40-hour mediation training
  • American Arbitration Association training on managing multi-party mediations
  • Yearly continuing training on arbitration and mediation current topics, including cybersecurity and AI
